What is a mobile rack?

Mobile racks is a racking system with wheels at the bottom and can be moved back and forth horizontally. When you need to pick up goods in a certain pallet position, the entire rack will move to the sides, leaving a space wide enough for the forklift to go in and pick up the target pallet.

Thanks to this feature, the mobile rack system can double the storage capacity by saving space compared to the traditional fixed racking system.

Why is mobile rack suitable for small or medium size warehouses?

The mobile rack should only have a maximum of 7 storage level with a total height of 15m. In addition, each row of the rack should be only 10-15m long, equivalent to 10 pallet positions. The weight of each pallet should also be a maximum of 1.5 ton.

Because of the above characteristics, the mobile rack is really suitable for small warehouse sizes with low import-export speed. Note, small-scale warehouses are limited in area, while mobile racks support very good area savings.

Advanced features of mobile racking system

In order to make the mobile rack system more efficient, the investor can integrate the warehouse management software WMS. This software can be completely integrated with the ERP systems of the company. This means, when an order from the sales department is initiated, immediately, the mobile racking system is moved and ready for the forklift to be picked up. In addition, warehouse management software combined with bar code reading systems can completely control the import and export of inventory. This is what DC distribution repositories are essential.

In addition, more advanced, the investor can also design the point-to-pick system called pick-to-light. These devices will light up, play a sound or something, alert the warehouse operator where to pick up.
